Verizon Now Offering New Yorkers Directory Assistance Service in Spanish

New Feature Provides Dependable, Reliable Searches in Spanish for Businesses, People and More Anywhere Across the Country

NEW YORK, Aug. 3 -- !Nuevo 411 En Espanol!

Verizon now is offering its reliable and dependable directory assistance service to New Yorkers in Spanish.

After dialing 411, Verizon's Spanish-speaking customers can press "2" at the recorded greeting at the beginning of the call.  Customers will receive their requested directory listing in Spanish, and they can request information for any listing within the continental U.S.  For directory assistance in English, callers simply press "1" or stay on the line.

"This is a new and unique service from Verizon that is helpful and necessary for our Spanish-speaking customers in New York," said Pedro Correa, president of Verizon's LiveSource group.  "With Verizon's 411 search, these customers will be able to get phone numbers and addresses, and even do searches by type of business, quickly and conveniently.  It's fast and accurate, and done by our professionally trained operators, who can get the information our customers need."

Verizon will begin advertising the Spanish directory assistance service this month on Spanish radio stations and subway and bus posters in the New York City metropolitan area, and at online locations.

As part of the advertising, the company also is conducting a promotional "What's the 411 in New York" service that will provide its customers with the latest news from around the New York City metropolitan area.  Customers can sign up at x963fm.com or Univision.com for the weekly alerts online or through e-mail or mobile text, as well as register to win valuable prizes.

Like English directory assistance searches, Spanish-speaking callers can obtain the information by requesting:

--  Search by Name.  Provide the name of the person or business to get the
      telephone number.
--  Search by Type of Business.  If callers do not know the exact name of
the business, they can use the Business Category Search feature to
locate businesses by heading or industry.  Operators can search for
the type of business using a category that is provided, such as a
      plumber or an automobile mechanic.
--  Search by Address.  Give the operator the address of location to get
      the needed listing.
--  Reverse Number Search.  If callers would like to know the listed name
associated with a specific telephone number, they can request a
      reverse number search.

The rate for the call is $1.50, the same as for a directory request in English.

The Spanish directory assistance continues Verizon's tradition of offering customer service support in six languages other than English - Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and Russian.  The company also offers a special Spanish package of television channels, called La Conexion, as part of its FiOS TV product.  In addition, the company's own website is offered in Spanish at http://www.verizon.com/espanol.
