The A Group Launches New Brand Development and Consulting Division
Former Thomas Nelson Publishers Executive, Borders President Named Partner
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 3 -- Today The A Group, a full-service marketing agency and technology firm specializing in the Christian and non-profit sectors, announced the launch of a new brand development and consulting division. The initiative will be led by retail and publishing veteran Tami Heim who has come on board as a partner at The A Group. The division will construct branding platforms for all types of content creators, with an initial focus in the publishing sector.
The A Group built its business by providing state-of-art websites, savvy design skills and social media prowess. This expansion into strategic brand building for authors and other content creators will help clients navigate the publishing marketplace, which has been radically transformed by new technologies. Writers need agile, cutting edge marketing strategies in order to fully benefit from the innovative ways that content is now published, marketed and distributed.
"In addition to writing great books, today's authors must have engaging websites and simultaneously leverage social media, conduct interviews, push creative multimedia messaging and more," said Heim. "The A Group's thorough understanding of the marketplace, new technology, social media and branding allows us to manage each brand holistically and position these artistic entrepreneurs for success."
In recent years the world of publishing and book sales has undergone revolutionary change. The number of books printed on-demand has overtaken those printed conventionally. Almost 300,000 books were published using traditional methods in 2009, according to Books in Print, while in the same year about 765,000 were printed on-demand from the Internet.
The A Group's foray into the online consolidation of media promotion, content and sales reflects their depth of knowledge in publishing and foresight about the strategic thinking required to succeed.
Heim will add her expertise to The A Group's enhanced services including social media platform development, brand strategy and management, product development, and publishing representation and management. The division already serves several nationally noted authors and speakers including Pete Wilson, Greg Surratt, Billy Hornsby, Dr. Tim Elmore and Laurie Beth Jones.
Heim previously served as the executive vice president and chief publishing officer at Thomas Nelson Publishers and president of Borders, Inc. While at Thomas Nelson, she was responsible for executive leadership, revenue growth and profitability for the company's 12 publishing units. Heim and the team charted 59 titles on the New York Times bestseller list and consistently dominated the Evangelical Christian Publishing Association's (ECPA) bestseller reports. She was responsible for leading the content development, marketing and brand strategy teams for some of today's foremost Christian thought leaders including Max Lucado, John Maxwell, John and Staci Eldredge, John MacArthur, Charles Stanley and Donald Miller. During her four-years as president of Borders, sales revenue and profits grew significantly, and by the end of her tenure the stock value achieved a five-year high.
