Jornal do Brasil Reinforces Interaction and Social Content

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 27 -- The new digital content phase of Jornal do Brazil, jb.com.br, available starting September 1, 2010, will be divided into three areas of concentration:

(I) Real Time: provided and produced by the newspaper's own sources and the best Brazilian and international news agencies.

- Real Time will also include "teasers," small notes or, in the case of more extensive material, paragraphs that whet readers' appetites for more reserved JB digital content.

- Real Time will include expanded content with photos, video and sound.

(II) JB Digital: the traditional Jornal do Brasil that aggregates the important content differentiators that have always characterized the newspaper.

- Initially, JB will be a daily product designed for reader-friendly software platforms on computers and mobile devices of any type (laptops, desktops, iPhones, BlackBerries, or the newer digital readers such as iPad, Kindle, and Mix).

- Once on jb.com.br, the user just clicks on the JB Digital icon so the newspaper's electronic pages immediately adjust to the computer screen's format; using the mouse or interactive screen, the font and images can be enlarged or reduced. This product will be available at a monthly subscription rate of R$9.90, 20% of the subscription cost for the old print version of the newspaper.

- There will be icons for other Brazilian media in the new phase of Jornal do Brasil, as well as the quality content of The New York Times and other leading international news organizations.

- No changes will be made to the editorial line of independence and quality that for 119 years has come to distinguish Jornal do Brasil.

(III) Blogosphere (Sociedade Aberta): There will be interactive blogs with leading Jornal do Brasil columnists and writers, as well as with other contributors through the publisher "Sociedade Aberta," where the reader is reporter and writer.

- Blogosphere will include the innovative JBWiki, the newspaper with content 100% provided and produced by readers.

Jornal do Brasil soon will also offer a digital version in other languages based on the idea of being the first newspaper in Brazil created by Brazilians and produced in the world's most spoken languages.

Toward the end of the year, JB will pursue promotional partnerships that allow subscribers to acquire their first digital readers at a reduced cost.
