EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative and West/Southwest Regional Conference Invites Record Online Audiences to Live Sessions Streamed With Mediasite

Sonic Foundry Event Services webcasts regional hybrid-events for the first time

MADISON, Wis., Feb. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sonic Foundry, Inc. (Nasdaq: SOFO), the recognized market leader for rich media webcasting, lecture capture and knowledge management, continues its long term sponsorship of EDUCAUSE by providing event webcasting services for two events this month.  EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative takes place this week in Washington, D.C., and EDUCAUSE West/Southwest Regional Conference is February 22-24 in Austin, Texas.

All general and featured sessions, as well as multiple track sessions at both events will be captured with Mediasite and available for public viewing.  ELI sessions can be viewed at http://www.sonicfoundry.com/eli2011sessions.

EDUCAUSE has been successfully creating a hybrid annual conference for three years, leading to thousands more online participants and increased attendance overall.  For the first time, the organization will apply that hybrid model to a smaller regional event and Sonic Foundry is pleased to support its development.

"This is about member outreach, to allow more people to access the content shared at face-to-face meetings," said Victoria Fanning, director of hybrid and online conferences and events for EDUCAUSE.  "We are happy to have established a solid and successful relationship with Sonic Foundry before the inception of our hybrid events.  Sonic Foundry has played an important role in EDUCAUSE delivering hybrid events.  We sincerely appreciate the work their onsite staff accomplish at our events to turn them into quality online experiences."

The conferences will be webcast by Sonic Foundry's Event Services, a leading provider of webcasting for hybrid events and virtual conferences.  The group supplies technical webcasting services and expertise to organizations who seek to complement their conference or event with viewing over the web.  Since its launch in January 2007, the Event Services group has provided live and on-demand webcasting for clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations and university associations to sporting events and charitable organizations.
