Comstor Expands Cisco Offerings to Include Full Range of TelePresence Solutions, Including Former Tandberg Products

Cisco-Dedicated Business Unit of Westcon Group to Distribute World-Class Videoconferencing Portfolio

TARRYTOWN, N.Y., March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Comstor, the business unit of Westcon Group dedicated to Cisco products, today announced an expansion of its offerings to now include Cisco's full TelePresence portfolio.  Comstor is one of a select group of global distributors to deliver Cisco's range of videoconferencing solutions, including those recently acquired from Tandberg.

Cisco TelePresence delivers a live, face-to-face experience enabling people from different offices and cities around the world to meet virtually using the power of the network.  Meeting participants can share content, create high-quality video recordings of events, consult with experts, and deliver powerful personalized services - all using the network for an immersive in-person experience.  The solutions allow organizations of all sizes to substantially increase their global impact without increasing carbon footprints - accelerating corporate green initiatives by reducing travel.

"Our TelePresence portfolio is specifically designed to put people at the center of collaboration, changing the very nature of how they work.  Cisco is at the core of this change, as our rich collaboration suite empowers workers like never before - allowing them to become more productive by using video and face-to-face collaboration," said Scott Brown, vice president of worldwide distribution at Cisco.

Comstor adds Cisco TelePresence to its already strong suite of Cisco technology.  This past October, Comstor  announced a series of global LEAP (Learn, Experience, Architect, and Plan) "Centers of Excellence," providing the necessary foundation for vendors and partners to test, train, experiment, simulate and collaborate on the Cisco Unified Computing System.

Today's announcement provides a platform for former Tandberg partners to quickly integrate into the Cisco channel ecosystem.  The alliance also powers current Cisco partners to extend their solutions into this increasingly important market segment.

"In this challenging global economy, companies are taking a closer look at executive and employee travel.  But the need for collaborative work among customers, partners and other employees is only growing in importance," said Jon Pritchard, President, Comstor Worldwide.  "With this in mind, business video is quickly becoming one of the most significant revenue opportunities for our partners over the next two years."

Industry analysts around the world support this claim.  Most analysts estimate that revenue for worldwide videoconferencing will reach $8-$10 billion within the next four years.  Leveraging this opportunity, Comstor will distribute the entire portfolio of Cisco TelePresence and videoconferencing products, including:  Immersive Systems, Multipurpose Room Systems, Personal Systems, Solutions Platform, Call Control, Management, Conferencing, Media Services, Peripherals and Accessories, and Cloud Services.
