MimoPlug Launched With Mini-Monitor Bundle as World's Smallest, Energy Efficient Linux Computer System for Cloud Computing

MimoMonitors.com Combines "Deskless" Linux Plug Computer Cube & Mini USB Touchscreen Monitor in an Exclusive Bundle

PRINCETON, N.J., June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MimoMonitors.com, the leader in USB touchscreen displays, today announced the launch of the MimoPlug, a tiny linux-based, cube-shaped "plug computer" that is specially configured to work with the MimoMonitors family of mini USB touchscreen monitors. Together, the super-small MimoPlug (4.33" L x 2.74" W x 1.9" H) combined with a Mimo mini-monitor create arguably the smallest, most portable, and most energy efficient Linux computer system available anywhere - and at a price that makes the bundle an ideal alternative to desktop PCs for cloud computing applications.

As an always-on, always connected, and highly energy-efficient "deskless" computing system, the MimoPlug is a more cost-effective and space friendly option to replace many desktop PC systems, and require significantly less power. It is ideal for running any number of task-oriented business applications - cloud computing or local - which could also benefit from having such a small footprint. Perfectly suited for 24/7 usage, MimoPlug applications may include retail kiosks, hotel guest services, multi-site network monitoring, on-site employment application stations, manufacturing control panels, video conference room controls, and more.

Featuring a 1.2GHz CPU with choice of 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of flash memory and 512 MB of DDR2, the MimoPlug offers ample performance and resources to run a number of applications. Network connectivity is delivered via Gigabit Ethernet, and peripheral devices (such as the mini MimoMonitor) can be connected using its single USB 2.0 port. Its high-speed SLC card provides transfer speeds of up to 30MB/s. The MimoPlug can also take advantage of peer-to-peer connectivity over the Internet, as well as the latest network protocols-such as Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Unlike most Web 2.0 hosted services that use central servers on the Internet to store copies of data, the plug computing approach distributes computing power to each plug device.

The MimoPlug, also available with an eSata type II port, is configured to work with the following MimoMonitors: 720-S (7" touchscreen slider), 720-F (7" flexscreen), Touch2 (7" standard touchscreen), eye9 (9" touchscreen with integrated webcam), and Monster (10" touchscreen); with bundle pricing starting at $399.98.
