ePharmaSolutions Deploys Version 2.2 of Its Global 2-Way Text Messaging Solution for Clinical Trials
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ePharmaSolutions announced the deployment of its global 2-way Study Messaging Solution (SMS) for clinical trial patient recruitment and retention.
More than 30% of patients drop out of clinical research studies, costing the pharmaceutical industry hundreds of millions of dollars per year. The problem is compounded by the fact that 40% of patients who remain in the studies are non-compliant with the protocol visit schedule, resulting in additional costs and delays. These problems can be avoided if sponsors accelerate adoption of currently available texting solutions used to remind patients of their upcoming visits.

While SMS texting for clinical trial recruitment and retention has been available for several years and shows great promise, site adoption of these solutions have been slower than expected due to the extra work required to enter each patient's information, visit schedule and reminder message. ePharmaSolutions developed the SMS to programmatically populate and update the patient information and visit schedule to reduce site workload and improve adoption rates throughout the study.
