Common Sense Media and AT&T Join Forces in First-of-its-Kind Agreement to Bring Parents Safety Tools and 'Family Friendly' Content Ratings for Mobile Apps, Video, Games and More

WASHINGTON, Nov. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Common Sense Media and AT&T* today announced a first-of-its-kind agreement to help AT&T's more than 100 million wireless customers get the information they need - up front - to manage mobile content in a way that's best for families. With new research indicating that more than half of all children have access to smartphones or tablet devices at home, the agreement continues AT&T's tradition of helping parents stay educated on important safety tips and information.

Looking ahead, Common Sense Media and AT&T will collaborate on a variety of fronts, including opportunities to incorporate Common Sense reviews and ratings into AT&T services. In the interim, customers can access the Common Sense mobile application from their smartphone to get up-to-date expert reviews, ratings and recommendations for parents - tailored by age and stage - for more than 15,000 titles of media spanning movies, video games, music and more.

"Mobile devices are a fantastic way for kids to stay connected with their parents, collaborate with their peers, and explore the world; but with that kind of power comes responsibility. With so many choices available, parents need real guidance to help them surface high quality and appropriate apps for their kids," said Amy Guggenheim Shenkan, President and COO of Common Sense Media. "We're pleased to have the support of a mobile leader like AT&T and look forward to collaborating on a variety of efforts to ensure parents have resources and information they need to help their family use these devices safely and smartly."

"Providing our customers with the tools they need to make the right decision for their family about content, services and more is important to us," said Mark Collins, senior vice president, Data and Voice Products, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "We have a long history of providing parents with the education and information they need to make the best choices for their families, and our collaboration with Common Sense Media continues this commitment."
