Child Safety Network App Nearparent Introduces Premium Features for Android Devices - New MyZones Function Allows Parents to Define Safe Locations

App Empowers Children to Make Sound Choices about Their Activities - Children and Parents can Check-in and Send Alerts through the App

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearparent Ltd., an app development company, announced today the launch of the new premium service features for its innovative Nearparent app. The app enables parents to create a trusted and private network of adults available to personally assist their child in time of need. The new premium features extend the usefulness of the application, giving children new ways to receive guidance while they are away from home. The app is available for Android devices and includes several key enhancements.

The most significant new feature for the Nearparent premium service is an innovative MyZones functionality, which allows children to learn more about the safety of their surrounding area. The app enables parents to define safe areas such as "home" or "school" for their child with a set timeframe for them to be in that specific area. Parents can choose to receive in-app alert messages when their child's location shows them being out of the set area.  Enhanced alerts allow the child to use either one of the included default messages or write their own text to be included into the alert. This enables the child's network of Nearparent adult helpers to better to assess the severity of the situation and determine what kind of help is needed.

Parents can configure the application via their mobile device and through a secure website at https://my.nearparent.com, making it convenient for those users who prefer a larger PC screen. They can use the site for registration, to add children, invite trusted adult helpers to the network and setup MyZones.

"Our new premium features give parents some added levels of security to ensure the safety of their children," said Topi Jarvinen, one of the creators of the Nearparent app. "Nearparent is designed to work unobtrusively, and new features like MyZones are intended to empower children with information, to help them make better and safer choices. We encourage families to work together to establish certain areas that should be designated in Nearparent. This allows the child to feel some independence and involvement in decision making."

Pricing for the new premium service features is set at $4.99 per month per child, or $49.99 for an annual family membership that will cover an unlimited number of children. New Nearparent app users can try out the new premium features during a ten-day trial period. Users of the free app can still perform several functions including check-ins and basic alerts. Nearparent is available in English, Finnish, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Nearparent is a closed social network with strict privacy controls that keeps the parent's and child's information safe and secure. When a child needs assistance, they simply click a button which alerts the adults in their private network. An integrated map shows the child's location in real time, allowing network members to offer immediate assistance.
