Trover Builds Communities Around Location-Based Discoveries

Trover Lists and new social features help users connect around fun things to see and do

SEATTLE, Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trover, Inc. a company created for explorers worldwide, today announced new features for its SoLoMo app designed specifically to help build communities around discoveries. These include "Lists" that allow users to create collections of things to do, @Name Tags to tag friends in discovery comments and invite them to see and share activities of common interest, and a redesigned News Feed to tune-in to friends and their latest Trover activity.

Lists add a powerful level of personalization and utility to Trover's entertaining social content. By far the most-requested feature by Trover users, Lists enables casual browsers to collect interesting things to see and do over time. Rich, visual discoveries from friends and local experts become the source for handpicked lists of local restaurants to try, hikes to plan and far-flung destinations to dream about. Lists also offer a fun way for friends to share their local recommendations and adventure stories with others who wish to follow their paths. Trover discoveries and lists provide an everyday tool to inspire and guide any explorer's next outing.

"Trover enables community members to serve as both individual explorers and tour guides by curating hidden gems that reveal the fabric, culture and activities of a neighborhood or surrounding area," says Jason Karas, Trover CEO. "The new features announced today are designed to help users build community around a rapidly expanding collection of geo-located discoveries."

Trover inspires people to delve into their surroundings, tapping their curiosity, creativity and desire to share local gems with other explorers. The images on Trover are breathtaking and also useful. Viewing images arranged in a geo-organized way on Trover is proving fun and more engaging than scanning a list of text-based search results, and often leads users to visit interesting places they never knew existed.

Growing Body of Content for Austin and SXSW
To build a base of genuinely useful, beautiful and unique local content, Trover hosts discovery walks, and taps local explorers who know areas, post seeds of interesting things to see and do, and who catalyze the community. On February 18(th), Austin explorers can trek through one of the city's most evolving neighborhoods at the Discover East Austin Mobile Photo Walk.

Trover is targeting SXSW as a major opportunity to introduce people to the fun of exploring with Trover. Hourly "hidden gem" walking tours, "Live Painting" graffiti parties and discovery competitions are some elements of the program. More specific details will be announced shortly.

SXSW Interactive has also nominated Trover for a "Community Award" for social networks and wikis that have quickly developed an extraordinarily active multi-user community and an exceptional following of users who assist with content development.
