Wisconsin Launches New "Locate In Wisconsin" Site Selection Tool to Attract Businesses

New website, http://www.LocateInWisconsin.com, provides dynamic data and sophisticated mapping technology to attract business, jobs

MADISON, Wis., Feb. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) and GIS Planning Inc. today announced the launch of a website http://www.LocateInWisconsin.com, a free online search tool for businesses looking to relocate or expand in Wisconsin.

The new online tool provides company executives and site selectors with comprehensive information for making business expansion decisions in Wisconsin. The one-stop system provides users with free and instant commercial real estate data, demographic breakdowns, community details, lists of buildings available for sale or lease, and information on the local workforce, including education and skills. LocateInWisconsin.com covers every Wisconsin city and all 72 of the state's counties.

"LocateInWisconsin.com is a powerful tool that will help both in-state and out-of-state companies find the optimum sites in Wisconsin to grow and develop their businesses," said Paul Jadin, CEO and Secretary of the WEDC.

The robust tool is implemented and directed by WEDC, with support of the Wisconsin Economic Development Association. San Francisco-based GIS Planning, http://www.gisplanning.com, created the software that powers the new system.

The Geographic Information System (GIS)-powered website is built upon Google Maps technology, offering state-of-the-art site selection mapping capabilities.  The new website is also integrated with GIS Planning's national site selection search engine, http://www.ZoomProspector.com, which allows visitors to conduct national searches of cities and commercial properties that match their unique criteria.

"Our technology not only markets Wisconsin worldwide, it also empowers businesses to make an objective decision about the best location for their business in Wisconsin," said Anatalio Ubalde, CEO of GIS Planning.  "Since nearly all initial site selection screening is now done online, the new Wisconsin system certainly makes the state more competitive in its effort to attract businesses and jobs."

Together with GIS Planning, WEDC is facilitating relocation to and expansion within Wisconsin. GIS Planning is the world leader in online economic development solutions.  More than 13,000 U.S. cities in 42 states are served by the company's GIS software, which provides real estate, demographic and industry data to help site selection professionals.

WEDC is the state's lead economic development organization.  Visit http://www.wedc.org for more information.
