ISG Launches New Consumption Management Service

Integrated IT intelligence software provides visibility into infrastructure, validates resource usage, enables reconciliation of assets

Available as standalone service or part of comprehensive sourcing governance solution

STAMFORD, Conn., March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Information Services Group (ISG) (NASDAQ: III), a leading technology insights, market intelligence and advisory services company, announced today the launch of a new Consumption Management service to help enterprises address the challenge of IT asset management and reconciliation.

The new service incorporates technology from ISG strategic partner Blazent, whose SaaS-based IT intelligence solutions provide a consolidated source of information on IT assets and uncover hidden opportunities to optimize IT operations, lower costs and reduce risks. It is available either as a standalone offering or as part of a comprehensive managed services solution from ISG Governance Services.

Blazent analyses of 70 IT enterprises in Fortune 500 companies show an average of 15 percent of servers are not backed up and 16 percent of Windows-based assets lack anti-virus protection. "Book-to-floor" gaps - the difference between contracted and actual assets - average 14 percent, and estimates of how many PCs are in the organization are typically off by 8 percent.

To close these gaps, the new ISG Consumption Management service applies proven IT intelligence tools to validate a client's consumption of resources, verify backups and the existence of anti-virus software, and identify redundant and unused assets. By reconciling contracted assets against assets actually deployed in the enterprise, the service helps ensure billing accuracy and reduces invoicing errors. And by examining and cross-referencing multiple sources of data, it establishes a "golden record" of data that allows clients to quickly identify problem areas and take corrective action.
