Project Decor Launches Invite-Only Beta Test on June 18

NEW YORK, May 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Project Decor, the new social home decorating web platform for design enthusiasts, will be launching its "invite-only" beta test on June 18. Users can visualize their personal design style for each room in their home, share it with their friends and then shop for furniture and accessories to create their dream home.

Interactive boards allow users to browse designer rooms, "tear" items they love, upload photographs of their room or furniture and easily combine them to create their own personal design. Project Decor also will be offering consumers a way to get products that are often inaccessible as they are typically only available to the trade.

Project Decor has recruited over 40 of the leading design brands for launch including Knoll, Richard Schultz, Jonathan Adler, Bernhardt Design, Orrefors, Kosta Boda, Area, Gaia & Gino, Merida, Christopher Farr, ducduc, Emeco, Stephanie Odegard Collection, Offecct, Mirror Image, Jan Kath, and Studio Printworks. Additional partners will be announced in the coming weeks.

"It's difficult for consumers to envision how various items from different brands will look together in a room," said Project Decor co-founder Cliff Sirlin. "Project Decor solves that problem and empowers users to easily create beautiful designer rooms that they can share with their social circle."

"Decorating a home is an inherently collaborative process," said Project Decor co-founder Andy Appelbaum. "Social Design with Project Decor makes it easy for consumers to share and collaborate with friends and family. Then, when users are ready to buy, there is a seamless e-commerce experience so they no longer have to run around to different stores or web sites to make their purchases."

The company has raised a $1.6 million seed round of financing, led by LaunchCapital and Founder Collective, as well as a number of angel investors.
