W.K. Kellogg Foundation Launches New Online Resource Michigan Nightlight

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., May 31, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The W.K. Kellogg Foundation today announced the launch of Michigan Nightlight, an online source of solutions, news and inspiration for those who are working to positively impact the lives of Michigan children.

Published by Detroit-based Issue Media Group - and made possible through funding from the foundation - the goal of Michigan Nightlight is to spotlight successes in improving outcomes for vulnerable children. Michigan Nightlight also will share the visions and viewpoints of the state's most effective nonprofit leaders.

"Michigan Nightlight profiles area programs and leaders; encouraging readers to ponder change, take action, make a connection, question a norm, learn from fellow professionals, or applaud the good work being done in our state," said Paul Schutt, publisher and co-founder, Issue Media Group.

The Michigan Nightlight will shine a light on some very impressive, necessary and innovative work. Through this publication, both the Kellogg Foundation and Issue Media Group hope to bring attention to the needs of Michigan's children and share solutions that Michigan communities are cultivating.

"At the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, we are guided by the belief that all children should have an equal opportunity to thrive," said Sterling Speirn, president and CEO, W.K. Kellogg Foundation. "Issue Media Group has developed a robust online resource for those working on behalf of children, which brings information about people, programs and bright spots together in one place."

New profiles and stories will be added weekly. Visitors to the site can sign up for email updates on the front page.
