Society for Information Display Names Winners Of Second Annual Best in Show Awards At Display Week 2012

Dimenco, Fraunhofer IPMS-COMEDD, LG Display, Ocular and Samsung all Recognized for Showcasing Standout Products and Technologies at 49th Annual SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition

CAMPBELL, Calif., June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Society for Information Display (SID), the leading global organization dedicated to the advancement of electronic display products and technology, today announced the winners of the second annual Display Week Best in Show Awards.  These awards highlight the most significant new products and technologies showcased on the exhibit floor during this week's 49th annual SID International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition, currently underway at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.  The Best in Show Awards are being presented today during the annual SID awards luncheon at Display Week, where the winners of the venerable Display Industry Awards are also being honored.

Open to all 2012 Display Week exhibitors, this year's Best in Show winners are:

    --  Dimenco's unique eye-tracking, auto-adjusting stereo 3D display and
        large-area, multiple-view 4Kx2K display (Booth #848)
    --  Fraunhofer IPMS-COMEDD's AMOLED microdisplay with integrated
        photosensor, which could be applied for next-generation eye-tracking
        devices (Booth #1371)
    --  LG Display's 55-inch AMOLED TV with white OLEDs and oxide backplane in a
        thin form factor (Booth #143)
    --  Ocular LCD Inc.'s 17.0-inch Crystal Touch: TRUE Multi-Touch projected
        capacitive touch panel that supports 16 simultaneous touch points (Booth
        #855)
    --  Samsung's 55-inch AMOLED TV with RGB OLEDs and LTPS backplane, and the
        Smart DualView® feature (Booth #163)
Selected by an independent panel of display experts, the Best in Show winners are chosen for the significance of their development and/or product and for their ability to generate excitement within not only the display industry, but also among the general public and global media and analyst communities. This year's five winners were selected from more than 180 exhibits that were demonstrating the innovations that continue to drive the display industry.

According to Robert L. SID's Best in Show Award qualifications include prototypes and manufacturing processes, as well as products, but are only awarded to Display Week exhibitors.  The criteria used by the committee members to evaluate the exhibit material included: timeliness and significance to the display industry among the products, prototypes, processes and technologies exhibited; and creative use of audio, visual or other effects presented; or new materials highlighted.
