Influenced by the Muscular Dystrophy telethons popularized in the 60s, 70s and 80s, the ISD web-a-thon will feature a variety of guests, including pro surfers, celebrities and environmental heroes, as well as musical performances, a bikini fashion show, and dispatches from various activations around the world. Instead of being broadcast on television, the program will be streamed live on the internet using Ubiquity's patented technologies and award winning staff, and will be hosted by TransWorld SURF Editor-in-Chief Chris Cote. Joining Chris will be supermodel and swimwear mogul Susan Holmes-McKagan.

In addition to interviewing guests and covering the day's festivities, Chris and Susan will be helping the Surfrider Foundation raise funds and supporters through their annual International Surfing Day Membership Drive. A cadre of models, pro surfers and celebrities will be onsite answering phones throughout the day, signing up supporters to help the Surfrider Foundation reach their goal of 2,000 new members.

"Over the last eight years International Surfing Day has grown from a small handful of events here in the United States to more than 120 events in nearly two dozen countries worldwide," says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation's Director of Marketing and Communication. "This year we really wanted to step things up for those people who might not be able paddle out or to attend an event.  Now everyone everywhere can participate."

"TransWorld SURF is proud to partner with Surfrider Foundation on such a great day," says Scott Desiderio, TransWorld SURF's Events Marketing Director. "For the first time ever we get to bring ISD to life on the world wide web for everyone to participate. Go Surf then tune in and watch the fun."

"We are thrilled to contribute to this important celebration in the surf community," says Matt Patterson, VP of Marketing for SME Media. "Ubiquity Studios is the perfect showcase and platform for this event."

Ubiquity Studios GM Bryan Harpole said, "Ubiquity Studios offer all of the amenities and more to make the celebrities attending International Surf Day a success. Ubiquity will enable everyone the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event by its patented live broadcast technology."

The International Surfing Day web-a-thon begins at 9:00 AM PDT on June 20th and will run until 4:00 PM PDT.
