Within a week of its launch, the app was featured as "New and Noteworthy" in the iTunes App Store, and earned a spot among the top two free apps in the Education category there.
Designed for learners ages 5-9, the app delivers a different BrainPOP Jr. movie every week, plus related features - free. Site subscribers can log in directly from the app to access all BrainPOP Jr. topics, which span Science, Social Studies, Reading, Writing, Math, Health, Arts, and Technology.
BrainPOP Jr. cultivates critical thinking skills and encourages learners to ask questions and make connections. Its gentle, humorous, and relatable characters, Annie and Moby, serve as guides through each subject, empowering students in grades K-3 to form their own ideas.
The Movie of the Week app is easily navigable, enabling kids to further explore what they're learning at school or delve into any other age-appropriate subject they're curious about - on their own and in a safe and trusted environment. The app is fully accessible for the visually impaired and offers closed captioning for the hearing impaired.
"We are thrilled to bring mobile learning to the fingertips of a younger generation of students with the addition of BrainPOP Jr. to the BrainPOP family of apps," said Avraham Kadar, M.D., BrainPOP's Founder and CEO. "By enabling a content-rich experience at home, in the classroom, and on the go, we seek to excite, motivate, and empower children to become constant, life-long learners."
The BrainPOP Jr. Movie of the Week app is the latest addition to BrainPOP's popular suite of mobile learning apps. Downloaded more than 1.5 million times, BrainPOP's Featured Movie apps offer animated movies and quizzes for upper elementary and middle school students. Versions are available in American English, British English, and Spanish.
The BrainPOP Jr. Movie of the Week app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore.
