Neudesic Partners with Xerox to Deliver Innovative Hybrid-Cloud Transportation Solution
New distributed vehicle e-screening system expected to reduce emissions and make roads safer
IRVINE, Calif., July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsoft has released a case study highlighting how, in just eight months, Neudesic, Xerox Corporation, HELP, Inc., and Microsoft joined forces to deliver a revolutionary addition to the Intelligent Transportation Systems space built entirely on the Microsoft hybrid cloud. Neudesic is a member of Microsoft's Azure Circle and a Microsoft National Systems Integrator and Gold ISV Partner.
By adopting Microsoft technologies, Xerox developed a turnkey commercial e-screening solution for HELP, Inc. that can be quickly deployed in virtually any field environment. "Thanks to the reliability and flexibility of Windows Azure, we can offer our customers a low cost of entry," said Rick Clasby, President and CEO of HELP, Inc. "We can count on fast time-to-market, high performance, and easy interoperability--and we have the competitive advantage of being thought of as leaders in the Intelligent Transportation Systems space for commercial vehicle solutions."
Xerox used the collective capabilities of the Microsoft platform, including Windows Azure to build 360SmartView, a distributed e-screening system that scales on demand and supports states' needs for enhanced vehicle screening at a low cost. "With 360SmartView available as software-as-a-service hosted in the cloud, inspection officers can quickly uncover violations and encourage compliance," says Cathi Chinn, Program Management Office and Technology Director at Xerox. "It levels the playing field for the carrier industry--and good drivers can pass through sites undeterred."
Rick G. Garibay, General Manager of Neudesic Connected Systems Development, said, "This solution reflects half a decade of partnership with Xerox Corporation and HELP, Inc., and we are truly proud to not only have been a part of this innovative contribution to the intelligent transportation space, but also consider it a reference architecture for building highly distributed hybrid solutions built on the Microsoft platform."
Brendon Birdoes, Practice Director of Connected Systems Development at Neudesic, who led the engineering team from ideation to delivery, said, "We knew that we could use Windows Azure technologies to build a turnkey solution that would efficiently provide screening information to a variety of endpoints. With cloud services, we could store and analyze data in a highly secure fashion and relay information to almost any device."
Garibay added, "Delivering a logically centralized, yet physically distributed e-screening solution required applying the collective capabilities of the Windows platform, including Windows Azure Cloud Services and Windows Azure SQL Database, along with Microsoft AppFabric for Windows Server and SQL Server on premise, and Azure Service Bus ties the entire solution together."
