Edible ArrangementsĀ® delivers strong second quarter growth

Leader in fresh fruit arrangements enjoys continued sales increases, opens 22 new locations, launches apps for consumers and franchisees

WALLINGFORD, Conn., July 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The second quarter was growing season for Edible Arrangements as the pioneer in hand-sculpted, fresh-fruit arrangements saw a 15 percent overall increase in sales, including a 10 percent increase in same store sales over 2011.

This also represented an increase over strong first quarter results that showed overall increases of 14 percent and same store sales increases of 9 percent.

In addition to the sales growth, Edible Arrangements also grew its franchise network with the opening of 22 new stores.

"We're thrilled with the results we've achieved this year, but the credit goes to our franchisees," said Founder and CEO Tariq Farid. "Their ability to evolve and adapt to demands of the marketplace on the front lines is what allows us to be successful."

To help drive its second quarter success, Edible Arrangements launched a new advertising campaign in April. The whimsical "World of Edible Arrangements" commercials feature the work of internationally recognized foodscape artist Carl Warner. Farid credits the campaign with playing a major role in a 19 percent increase in Mother's Day sales, the 11th straight year that Edible Arrangements set a sales record on its busiest weekend of the year.

The company wrapped up the quarter by introducing a new mobile website for consumers as well as two new smartphone apps designed to help franchisees manage their store remotely and enhance communication between franchisees and the Edible Arrangements corporate support staff.

Edible Arrangements also announced a strategic partnership with Catterton Partners, a leading consumer-focused private equity firm, designed to help propel through its next phase of growth.
