Foodily Launches New Search To Discover Foods Friends "Like," "Recommend" Or "Have Made"

Now The Foods Friends Pin on Pinterest, Like on Facebook or Fave on Foodily All Show In Foodily Search Results

SAN MATEO, Calif., July 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Foodily, the place to browse food ideas from friends and around the Web, is launching a new iPhone experience that lets people search for food ideas and sort by the ones their friend like. Now when people search on Foodily they can see suggestions from friends, search their saved favorites or see results from across the Web. This is the first time anyone can filter search results to just show the food friends love.

In this release, Foodily also enables people to organize their saved food favorites into menus and lists, such as a "Summer BBQ" list or a "My Appetizers" list. People can curate their own menus right from their mobile phone and share them with friends.

Over half of today's consumers use social media sites to learn about food. According to business intelligence firm RJ Metrics, food is the fastest-growing category on Pinterest. It's also the category that gets the most re-pins, generating on average more than 50% re-pins than the second most re-shared Pinterest category, Style and Fashion. Today Foodily is the first to let users search for recipes and easily see the ones their friends have endorsed. For instance, if someone is searching for a gluten-free appetizer they can view all recipes they have saved and see options their friends have pinned, liked or saved on Foodily.

"People are getting most of their food ideas from the Web and more of these ideas are coming from social networks like Facebook and Pinterest," said Andrea Cutright, CEO. "Foodily is the first and only site that makes is easy to search your social network to find great recipe ideas from people that you trust most."

Foodily's search capability allows users to browse, view and "fave" recipes from across the Web, see all the social activity around recipes and keep those recipes - including recipes from Facebook "Likes" and Pinterest "Pins" - all in one collection that's then shared on Facebook's Timeline. These enhanced search results tap into the power of social network discovery and allow anyone to keep all recipes they discover in one place, searchable by friends.
