Two Generations Of Collecting On Auction At WineBid.com
NAPA, Calif., July 31, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- WineBid.com, the premier Internet auction of fine and rare wines, is proud to offer in this week's auction exceptional wines from a collector who, along with his father, purchased First Growth and other Bordeaux on release or as futures for more than three decades. These full cases of Bordeaux have been expertly stored and have remained in the family until now. The collection has been carefully built by two generations of wine collectors who focused on Bordeaux, but who also purchased many vintages of Penfold's Grange, historic California Cabernets, Vintage Port and Chateau d'Yquem. The provenance of these wines is impeccable.
There are nearly 50 Bordeaux lots offered in their original wooden cases. Starting with the 1982 vintage, all were purchased by the collector or his father as futures from several of Alabama's most reputable wine merchants. Older Bordeaux - including early and mid-20(th) century vintages -- were purchased at the prestigious Heublein Wine Auctions held in the United States in the 1970s and 1980s. All of the 34 Penfold's Grange vintages in the collection were purchased on release from a reputable Alabama retailer. Also on offer are historic California classics such as BV Georges de Latour, Stag's Leap, Opus One and Robert Mondavi. A special group of rare Burgundies purchased through Heublein Wine Auctions comes from Maxim's Restaurant in Paris.
Included in this collection are these Bordeaux in their original cases:
Haut-Brion 1995-2001
Lafite-Rothschild 1997-2001
Margaux 1969-1999
Mouton-Rothschild 1994-2001
Montrose 1996, and 1998-2001
Calon-Segur 1996-2000
Established in 1996, WineBid.com is the largest online auction for fine and rare wines with more than 68,000 registered bidders worldwide. At WineBid.com each bottle of wine is appraised, inspected and stored in our climate-controlled warehouse in Napa, California.
