NTT Communications Invests in New Low-Latency Route Between Europe and Hong Kong
LONDON, August 8, 2012/PRNewswire/ --
NTT Communications, a member of the NTT Group and the number one Fortune Global 500
telecommunications group, announced today it has extended its Global low-latency network
with a dedicated connection between London and Hong Kong.
This allows NTT Communications to offer a Managed Bandwidth Service using the new
TEA-2 system - the newest low-latency route alternative to subsea cables. For NTT
Communications' European customers, access to the TEA-2 wavelength service means they have
direct connectivity to the major countries in Asia. Investment in this new route gives
customers a reliable, private and dedicated network service on-net, as the demand from
multinational companies in Europe sees an increase in the use of data networks and cloud
services to support global expansions.
John Hammond, VP Business Network Services at NTT Europe, says, "We are always looking
at how we can expand our network to give customers greater capacity with newer, faster and
more reliable routes but also better value for money. The TEA-2 cable system really does
strengthen our capability in Europe."
As part of a broader strategy, this European connection into Hong Kong complements NTT
Communications' "Gateway to Asia" offering between Europe, Singapore, Japan and China. And
with the launch of the NTT Communications Hong Kong Financial Data Center (FDC (TM)) in
2013, the TEA-2 landing site will provide Tier IV ready data center infrastructure with an
ultra-low latency network.
Masaaki Moribayashi, Managing Director at NTT Europe, says, "NTT Communications is the
leading ICT provider in the Asia-Pac region. We have a strong presence and heritage here
and this announcement means we are able to provide the skills and network infrastructure
our customers need to become successful."
