Ricoh tackles the challenge of mobile worker productivity
New Ricoh Mobile Worker Services include mobile printing, scanning, document storage, collaboration and more
WEST CALDWELL, N.J., Sept. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As organizations struggle to accommodate an increasingly mobile workforce, Ricoh Americas Corporation today detailed its new Ricoh Mobile Worker Services portfolio designed to give mobile workers instant access to the information they need to be productive.
Smartphone and tablet users are typically frustrated in their attempts to securely access, store, scan and print information in the office, on the road or working remotely. Ricoh Mobile Worker Services, among the first in a series of Ricoh's new Business Information Solutions, directly address these challenges.
Ricoh Mobile Worker Services capabilities will serve the growing population of mobile workers who are part of the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) movement. According to a recent study, 78 percent of U.S. employees use a mobile device for work, and 95 percent of organizations allow employee-owned devices in the workplace.
"Although we're firmly in the BYOD age, organizations are still struggling to reap mobile devices' full potential as business tools," said Dominic Pontrelli, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Ricoh Americas Corporation. "With Ricoh Mobile Worker Services, we'll help our customers realize this huge potential, giving mobile workers the right business information at the right time whether they're at home, on the road, at customer sites or moving around the workplace. The goal is a tailored business information solution that helps mobile workers be more productive, and work securely."
True mobility for a mobile worker includes the ability to print from any Internet-enabled device; use all the key capabilities of enterprise applications; collaborate fully with colleagues, customers and partners; and access the cloud for storage and sharing. For organizations, a comprehensive mobile worker solution involves centralized data storage, full audit trails, encrypted data, guest printing, resource conservation and reduction of the carbon footprint. Ricoh Mobile Worker Services encompass many of these capabilities, making personal devices a key component for enterprise information input, processing and output.
Ricoh Mobile Worker Services employ technology solutions such as:
Ricoh HotSpot mobile printing, which makes it easy for mobile workers to print documents from any Internet-enabled device to any HotSpot-enabled multifunction product (MFP) or printer - without having to download software or log onto the network.
The Ricoh DocumentMall cloud-based content management service, which simplifies the capture, storage, management, sharing and collaboration on documents from any device, whether mobile or fixed. DocumentMall provides comprehensive security and compliance capabilities.
A free HotSpot Printing app, which locates the closest HotSpot-enabled public printers (over 5,000 globally) via GPS mapping or manual search fields. Employees can set HotSpot-enabled devices as default printers as they would their desktop computer.
