New Wireless Weather Station Package From RainWise Inc. To Provide Easy Sign Up To Weather Underground's Network of Backyard Meteorologists

BAR HARBOR, Maine, Sept.12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RainWise Inc, a leader in the manufacture of precision weather instruments, is pleased to announce the release of a new personal weather station technology that will make it easier than ever for weather enthusiasts to report live weather data back to Weather Underground's wunderground.com, the world's first weather web site. Launched today by RainWise, this new weather station package is an out-of-the-box solution for people wanting to join Weather Underground's Network of over 24,000 weather stations - the largest of its kind around the globe.

The package includes a wireless, solar powered MKlll-LR weather station and compact IP-100 Internet gateway which come fully assembled for quick and easy installation. "With a refresh rate of only 3 seconds and online data that is virtually real time," says Wayne Burnett, Chief Technology Officer of RainWise Inc., "our recently developed IP-100 gateway is the perfect device for delivering data from the RainWise MK III-LR Weather Station directly to Wunderground.com. The combination of our hardware and their infrastructure and service is a natural fit making Weather Underground the preferred site for our customers to supply data to! RainWise is excited to be working with Weather Underground to build a new highly reliable source of weather data. We believe this to be the beginning of a long term relationship and expect future RainWise technological developments to be in line with the Weather Underground vision for a national network of easily accessible, real-time local weather."

This announcement follows the launch earlier this year of Weather Underground's revolutionary forecasting technology that ingests all of the data from this network of neighborhood weather reporters to derive a customized and hyper-local forecast for each station. "This new hardware from RainWise provides a plug and play solution for anyone interested in joining our weather station network and receiving local weather forecasts for their front door," said Alan Steremberg, President and co-founder of Weather Underground. "Until now, setting up a weather station and routing the weather data to our servers was a more convoluted process. RainWise's package requires no local computer or special software."

Steremberg continues: "These Weather Underground optimized weather stations from RainWise will accelerate the steady growth of our personal weather station network, which in turn will enable us to provide enhanced and even more reliable local forecasts for locations across the world. There are many areas of the world in dire need of more reliable weather reporting and we hope that this new weather station technology can be part of that solution."
