Trover Brings the Wonder of Mobile Discovery to the Big Screen
New Trover.com website showcases members' gorgeous photo discoveries and visual lists from 175 countries and extends the joy of exploring to a broader audience
SEATTLE, Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trover Inc. today launched the redesign of its website (http://www.trover.com) to showcase thousands of original, eye-catching photographs posted by explorers around the world who carry the Trover mobile discovery app. New features of the Trover.com website will allow anyone with a PC or Mac to easily find, curate and share fun things to see, do and eat through wide-screen photo mosaics that are organized by location. For anyone who creates a Trover List on their iPhone or Android device, the new website offers a stunning, immersive way to display their interests and share adventure stories with an expanded audience of family, friends and like-minded adventurers.
Today's announcement builds upon Trover's recent momentum as an entertainment service, as well as a travel and activity-planning tool. The goal of providing both a mobile and wide-screen experience is to extend the joy of exploring to a broader audience. Now Trover visitors can have an immersive, visual adventure, any time and from anywhere. Through each visit they learn about fascinating destinations from around world, and foster social connections around food, travel, adventure and photography.
"Trover's 'mobile-first' model has allowed us to focus on delivering the best real-time discovery experience possible on a smartphone. Now that our imagery is expansive, and user engagement is strong, it's finally time to move that experience to the desktop," said Jason Karas, CEO of Trover. "Providing an outlet for viewing beyond the smartphone fundamentally changes the mobile experience, greatly expanding the visual impact of what can be created and shared with the Trover mobile app. And with more people available to view and share content from the Trover community, we believe user engagement and word of mouth will both continue to climb."
New Features for the Big Screen
Trover's new website presents a completely redesigned homepage showing top discoveries, and provides easy access to popular interest-based lists. These serve as jumping-off points for deeper wide-screen adventures within Trover. Enhancements for a richer, more engaging Trover experience include:
-- Trover List Viewer - Offers a unique way to view and share collections
of images related to a personal interest, favorite place or specific
adventure. Recipients of shared Trover Lists are led to a full-screen
canvas of images published on Trover.com that are arranged by location
and sized by popularity.
-- World Browsing on Homepage - Visitors are welcomed with a display of the
hottest Trover content, organized around their location. A simple scroll
of the screen brings the user on a visual adventure through hidden gems
from increasingly far-away destinations. A new Featured Lists tab on
the homepage showcases the top user-created lists from around the world.
-- Universal Search - Serves up stunning discoveries from a specific place
or person, and a myriad of Trover Lists highlighting interests that
range from architecture and surfing to the best happy hour cocktails and
more.
-- Trover List Tools - Offers desktop users a way to create, edit and add
Trover content to visual lists.
