Virtual PBX Launches Free Android Application with Exclusive Feature That Enables Mobile Management of Hosted PBX System on Smartphones
New application provides access to all of the most-used functions of users' phone systems, directly from their Android smartphones
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Virtual PBX, the pioneer and leader in hosted PBX phone systems, announced today that it has released an extension management application for the Android operating system. The application allows Virtual PBX customers to have access to all of the popular functions of their phone system directly from their Android smartphones, including call routing, follow-me calling and ACD queue logins. The announcement comes just one month after Virtual PBX made the application available for iPhone users.
"With today's workforce becoming more mobile, businesses executives and employees need to be able to access their phone networks remotely," said Paul Hammond, CEO of Virtual PBX. "By providing an Android app in addition to our recently released iPhone app, we're ensuring that our customers can easily access their award-winning Virtual PBX service from practically any smartphone."
The new Android application, along with the iPhone version, allows Virtual PBX customers to remotely manage their office PBX extensions and certain system functions from nearly any smartphone. In addition, the most popular functions can be customized and updated automatically.
The features of the new Virtual PBX Android application, which are also available to iPhone users through the iPhone app, include:
-- ACD Queue Presence Management (Exclusive to Virtual PBX)The Virtual PBX
Extension Manager App makes presence management available through the
Android smartphone. Users can log in and out of queues and, through the
use of intelligent algorithms, Virtual PBX then reduces caller hold
times by not forcing calls to extensions where no one will answer. This
means happier callers and better efficiency.
-- Do Not Disturb Users who are in meetings or away from the office
sometimes don't want to receive calls at all. In most systems, the
phone rings whether the user wants it to or not, forcing the caller to
wait for voicemail to pick up and potentially embarrassing the extension
owner. Virtual PBX's Android app eliminates this problem by allowing
users to mark their extensions as unavailable, so incoming calls go
directly to voicemail with no waiting or client interruptions.
-- Follow-me, Find-me App users accessing this function of their Virtual
PBX system can redirect incoming business calls to up to four different
phones, such as the VoIP phone in their office, their smartphone or
another remote location. They'll also be notified that incoming calls
are business calls and can answer appropriately.
The Virtual PBX Android application is now available and can be downloaded for free at the Android Play Store.
