Verizon Wireless And Noticias Univision 41 Launch Amigos del Tiempo Contest In New York Metro Area
Contestants can register for Amigos del Tiempo Wireless Workshops held at select Stores Now through Friday, November 30, 2012; 10 Winners could present their weather reports on Noticias Univision 41 and receive a new 4G LTE-enabled tablet from Verizon with up to six months of free prepaid service
NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless, owner of America's largest 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and Noticias Univision 41 (Univision 41 News) today announced the launch of the Amigos Del Tiempo (Weather Friends) contest. This unique contest offers participants the opportunity of a lifetime, reporting the weather once a week for six months in the number one media market during WXTV Univision 41's newscast at 11 p.m. Winners will also receive a new 4G LTE-enabled tablet from Verizon and a Verizon Wireless Gift card which can be used to purchase up to six months of free prepaid service.

The call for entries is currently underway now through November 30, 2012. Spanish speaking adults aged 18 and older who live in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are eligible to participate in the contest and can learn how to enter by going to Univision 41's website at http://www.Univision.com/verizon. There is no purchase necessary to enter or win. As part of the contest, participants may register to take a free Verizon Wireless Amigos del Tiempo Preparacion Workshop to automatically qualify to participate in the December auditions. During these workshops, participants will learn how to use 4G LTE-enabled tablets, and how Verizon's 4G LTE technology can benefit their daily lives. These workshops are being offered in Spanish at select Verizon Wireless Stores.

After completing the workshops, contestants will have the opportunity to audition to become a final contestant for Amigos del Tiempo. Auditions will take place during the month of January 2013 with a date soon to be announced. From these entries, 25 finalists will be selected by Univision 41 and their auditions will be posted online at http://www.Univision.com/verizon for public voting.
Of the 25 finalists, 10 will be selected by Univision 41 as the winners to be announced during the month of January. The 10 winners will have the opportunity to become an Amigos del Tiempo reporter. Each winner will receive a new 4G LTE-enabled tablet from Verizon and a Verizon Wireless Gift card which can be used to purchase up to six months of free prepaid service. Winners may use their tablets to record and submit their weather reports on a weekly basis to Noticias Univision 41.
