Launch Represents Milestone for Mobile Commerce in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --ISIS, the mobile commerce joint venture created by major wireless providers, today announced the availability of the ISIS Mobile Wallet in Austin and Salt Lake City.
To celebrate the milestone in mobile commerce in Austin, Verizon Wireless hosted a store event at its Great Hills location on Monday, October 22. Taking place at one of Verizon Wireless's concept stores, dubbed Evolution 2.0, the event allowed guests to experience the mobile wallet technology first-hand through "The ISIS Experience" game and store demonstrations of ISIS-ready smartphones.
"Mobile commerce is an area of growing interest to our customers," said Frank Antonacci, Central Texas region president, Verizon Wireless. "We are excited to gather in Austin today to celebrate the launch of ISIS. Verizon Wireless is not only bringing a convenient and secure way of mobile payment to our customers in Austin, but also letting them enjoy the service with the fast speeds of the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network."
Also at the store event, Verizon Wireless presented two HopeLine grants to The Texas Advocacy Project and ADVANCE-Austin to commemorate October, the national domestic violence awareness month. Both non-profit organizations are dedicated to the education and prevention of domestic violence. The HopeLine from Verizon program has been supporting domestic violence survivors and serving the community for more than a decade.
