ATERAS® Announces ATP(TM) to Maintain Natural Batch Programs
Eliminate SAG License Fees
DALLAS, Oct. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ATERAS, a leading provider of solutions for legacy migration and modernization, announced today the roadmap to integrate Natural batch programs within the Application Transparency Platform (ATP) framework. This evolution of ATP provides a totally seamless legacy platform re-host solution for Natural sites.
One of the primary benefits of ATP is the ability for existing Natural programmers to maintain and enhance the Natural application code in a greatly improved developer environment while eliminating the need for the mainframe and expensive license fees. Currently, online Natural applications are re-hosted to ATP without any syntax changes and batch Natural programs are converted to a compatible target platform language (C# or COBOL) where they are maintained separately from ATP. With the new release, Natural batch programs will be maintained along with the online Natural programs in ATP without any change to the existing programming syntax.
Developers will use the ATP developer interface to enhance and maintain the Natural batch programs before exporting them to the batch run time environment. This export process eliminates the need for the existing team to learn a new language for batch maintenance. The ability to maintain batch programs within ATP also increases the cohesion of the re-hosted system because of the integrated version management system.
"We're very excited to be developing another solution for Adabas Natural clients to reduce their high mainframe license fees," said Scott Miller, CEO, President, ATERAS. "Improving the integration of the re-hosted solution means clients have an even easier time using the new platform."
ATP is scheduled to begin managing Natural batch programs in the first quarter of 2013. The initial run time export will be to COBOL on Windows or z/OS with additional export options to .NET C# at a later date.
