Planwise Launches Free, Anonymous Online Tool to Visualize Your Future Spending
"Google Maps For Your Money" Lets Users Build a Simple, Visual Roadmap for their Future Financial Plans
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- San Francisco startup Planwise (http://www.planwise.com) has launched a free, anonymous online tool to help consumers get a handle on their future spending. Like Google Maps for your money, Planwise creates a visual roadmap for your financial plans, hopes, and dreams, then charts them out alongside your existing financial commitments and daily spending - so you can clearly see the impact of your decisions before you make a move.
"Mint broke the mold in this space a few years ago, but we haven't seen much innovation since. While other sites offer a complex overview of your money, they fall short in letting users test-drive different spending scenarios before they set a goal and track its progress," said Planwise founder Vincent Turner. "Planwise is where your financial dreams and your financial reality come together, giving you a clear picture of what's possible."
To get started, simply enter your bank balance, income, and expenses. The site offers a choice of scenarios based on cyclical events (seasonal work), life stages (school, marriage, career, family), and major spending needs (car, vacation, house). Planwise's unique graphical view allows users to overlay multiple plans at once, and turn them on and off at will to easily compare different financial scenarios - much like reviewing different routes in Google Maps before plugging one into the GPS. An interactive chart appears onscreen at all times, instantly showing the impact of buying a car at multiple price points, different raise amounts, loss of income, and more.
Unlike other sites, Planwise is exclusively focused on future spending, and is completely anonymous. No personal data is required; an optional login allows users to save their data with bank-level security. The tool can project finances up to 30 years in advance, with automatic alerts about events, accomplishments, recommended actions, and more. Mobile and desktop apps are in the works.
Planwise is also designed to work directly with your favorite financial web site, from blogs to banking portals. The tool can be easily embedded onto partner sites, and Planwise has already rolled out more than 20 partners in the US and Canada.
