Antcor to Showcase Proteus Wi-Fi on CEVA-XC DSP Cores
SAN JOSE, California, December 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Proteus product on display is the only Wi-Fi implementation that truly
leverages the capabilities of programmable DSPs.
Antcor, S.A., an industry pioneer of 802.11 Intellectual Property, today announced
that it will showcase at CES 2013 Proteus
[http://www.antcor.com/products/software-defined-baseband ], a Wi-Fi 802.11ac IP on CEVA-XC
DSP Core [http://www.ceva-dsp.com/CEVA-XC-Family.html ]. During the upcoming CES show to
be held at Las Vegas from January 8-11, 2013, Antcor's Proteus demonstration (demo) will
be hosted at CEVA's suite 28-115 at the LVH. Invitees can see a live demo of the Proteus
and meet with Antcor's top executives.
The Proteus demo will show a single stream 802.11ac transmitter and receiver,
implemented on CEVA-XC DSP core delivering up to 433 Mbps throughput.
Will Strauss, President of Forward Concepts, commented: "Programmable DSPs have been
widely adopted to support communication standards such as HSPA and LTE but Antcor is the
first company that brings the benefits of this technology to Wi-Fi. The new era of
wireless communications is driven by the convergence of cellular and Wi-Fi standards and
Antcor's Proteus product is an important milestone for the industry as its DSP software
design is opening the way for a cellular - Wi-Fi silicon integration."
The configuration of Proteus on the CEVA-XC supports up to 4x4 MIMO and speeds up to
1.7 Gbps, enabling the next generation Wi-Fi access points, home gateways and Small cells.
Implemented primarily in DSP-software and with minimal hardware acceleration, the Proteus
offers a unique combination of performance, flexibility, and scalability.
Costas Meimetis, CEO of Antcor, commented: "We are very excited to be hosted by CEVA
at CES-2013 and present the world's first Wi-Fi 802.11ac based on a programmable DSP.
Besides the demo on display, during CES we will be presenting our 4x4 802.11ac reference
architecture that is designed to enable the next generation Wi-Fi Access Points and Small
Cells."
