Headlining both events will be Dr. Michael Stonebraker, pioneer of database research and technology, and co-founder of VoltDB. Dr. Stonebraker will share his insights and perspectives on:
-- The increasing role that data velocity is playing in today's big-data
environments
-- Best practices for developing high-velocity applications that address
current and future computing needs
-- The new capabilities of the upcoming VoltDB 3.0, which is poised to
transform the way developers think about building applications
Additionally, VoltDB President and CEO Bruce Reading, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Scott Jarr, VP of Engineering John Piekos, and VP of Market Technology and Strategy, Mark Hydar will each share market insight on where opportunities exist today to solve velocity challenges and deliver business value through big data.
East Coast event: The first event will be on Wednesday, January 23(rd), at 6 p.m., at hack/reduce, a non-profit business incubator located at 275 Third Street in Cambridge, Mass. The event is part of a partnership between VoltDB and hack/reduce, aimed at fostering talent and technology in the local big-data community. Participants can register here.
West Coast event: The Bay Area event will take place on Tuesday, January 29(th), at 6 p.m., at Third Eye Consulting Services & Solutions, 5201 Great America Parkway, Suite 320, Santa Clara, Calif. Participants can register here.
"Through these events, we are investing in the local developer communities while playing an active role in helping big data reach its potential," said Reading. "Our technology provides the key to unlocking the business value of big data. It's the talent and imagination of developers in places like Boston and Silicon Valley - the epicenters of the big-data movement - that will bring this vision to reality and deliver on the promise of unique and differentiated business value. With true high-velocity applications only just beginning to take shape, these meet-ups are happening at the perfect time."
