Emerging Artists Support Fellow Artists Affected By Hurricane Sandy Through New Photography Website

NEW YORK, Jan. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- V&M (Vintage and Modern - http://www.VandM.com), the leading online curated marketplace for unique design goods, announces the launch of a new sister site, V&M Photography (http://photo.vandm.com), and its Emerging Artist series. Premiering January 25, 2013, the Emerging Artist series features up-and-coming photographers from around the world that V&M's fine art experts have identified as investment worthy pieces. V&M and its participating artists will donate 50% of all net proceeds until February 24th to the New York Foundation of the Arts (NYFA), which supports artists affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Adam Smith, V&M Chairman and CEO commented: "We were originally approached by L.A.-based artist and author, Courtney Eldridge, who shares V&M's passion for charitable causes and bringing emerging artists to the forefront. The Emerging Artist series will join our new home of more than 600 rare and limited-edition prints produced by established photographers including Sam Haskins, a leading creative photographer of the 1960s, and Leo Fuchs, a Hollywood behind-the-scenes photographer."

Courtney Eldridge's work in NYC and Buenos Aires led to the creation of the Saccades Project, a digital umbrella for a trilogy of young adult novels, inspired by the incredible network of teen artists she discovered online.  Over the past four years, Eldridge has worked with thousands of emerging artists worldwide, and will release her first book in the Saccades series, Ghost Time, published by Amazon Publishing (June 2013).

"Our Emerging Artist series uncovers hidden gems that possess great promise and a distinctive artistic eye," says V&M Founder, Bill Indursky. "These works are a great investment.  We're keeping prices affordable and limiting the editions to 45 prints per work.  We're very proud to have the opportunity to support these artists and their work."

The international artists participating in V&M Photography's Hurricane Sandy relief effort hail from the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Serbia, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Russia, Poland, Hong Kong and China. Artists include: 17-year-old German photographer Connie Gegenfurtner; published Serbian poet Tamara Suskic; music producer/member of electronic band Ladytron, Reuben Wu; Karl Lagerfeld model-turned photographer, Canadian Joel Bedford; a color-blind British painter and award-winning photographer who has been shortlisted for the Sunday Times Landscape Photographer of the Year Award the past four years in a row, Chris Friel, to name just a few.

Prints will be available in various sizes and priced as: small (8x10 in.) at $75 unframed / $149 framed, edition of 10; medium (11x14 in.) at $149 unframed / $249 framed, edition of 20; large (16x20 in.) at $359 unframed / $489 framed, edition of 10; and extra-large (32x40 in.) at $750 unframed / $1,400 framed, edition of 5.  Each print comes with a V&M certificate of authenticity signed and numbered by the artist.

During the first 31 days of the Emerging Artist series, a sweepstakes will be hosted by GOOD, a global online platform that provides individuals with creative outlets to learn, share ideas, and collaborate in a variety of ways to address social issues throughout the world. The sweepstakes will be part of the 'daily question' that GOOD poses to its 830,000 Twitter fans; winners will receive a limited edition print from one of the Emerging Artists.
