GoPro Helps Superstars and Rising Stars Capture and Share Epic Music Moments

Debuts HERO3+® Black Edition Bundled with Mounts Made for Music

SAN MATEO, Calif., Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- GoPro, maker of the world's most versatile camera and enabler of some of today's most engaging user-generated content, announces the release of HERO3+® Black Edition/Music, a musician-focused version of it's best selling HERO3+Black Edition camera. HERO3+Black Edition/Music includes everything needed to capture professional quality photos and video of any music moment, from practice to performance. Debuting at The NAMM Show (Hall D #2484), HERO3+ Black Edition/Music makes it easy for musicians and DJs to mount the camera to instruments, turntables, mic stands and other stage equipment to capture immersive GoPro-style footage and unique points of view. Artists can also use the GoPro App on a mobile device to control the camera if it's mounted out of reach, while GoPro's free editing software, GoPro Studio, makes it easy to edit professional looking videos for self-promotion on YouTube(TM), Facebook(®), Instagram(TM) and other platforms.

"This is a natural step for us, as music has been a huge part of GoPro for years," said GoPro CEO and Founder, Nick Woodman. "From the inspiring soundtracks we feature in our videos to the immersive performances we've seen captured with our cameras, music is a big part of our inspiration here at GoPro and we're fired up to help musicians of all levels capture and share their passion with the world."

HERO3+ Black Edition/Music (MSRP $399.99) will be available this spring at retailers worldwide, including Guitar Center, Sam Ash and Sweetwater in the U.S. and Long & McQuade in Canada.

Instead of the waterhousing that is traditionally bundled with all GoPro cameras, the HERO3+ Black Edition/Music comes with The Frame, GoPro's sleekest, lowest-profile camera mounting solution and the smallest, lightest way to mount a HERO3+ camera when waterproof protection isn't required. The Frame provides easy access to all ports and full exposure to the camera's microphone, delivering a superior audio recording performance.  Along with The Frame, other new accessories packaged in HERO3+ Black Edition/Music include:

--  Removable Instrument Mount: An easy-to-remove, non-damaging adhesive
mount that makes it easy to mount the camera to guitars, drums,
        turntables, keyboards and other instruments.

--  Mic Stand Mount: Convenient mount for attaching the camera to a mic
stand. Compatible with standard U.S.  5/8"-27 mic stands. Includes an
adapter for European 3/8"-16 mic stands.
--  Jaws: Flex Clamp: Opposable flex clamp that simplifies mounting the
camera to cymbal stands, drum hardware, turntables and more. The
opposable and removable neck delivers a wide range of camera-angle
adjustability, and can be attached to the other included mounts for
        increased versatility.
The HERO3+ Black Edition/Music captures professional production quality photos and video in the challenging low light environments that musicians and DJs are accustomed to. Artists can now self-capture stunning video up to 2.7K and stills up to 12MP wherever they may be performing. The HERO3+ camera's ultra wide-angle, low-distortion lens captures expansive images ideal for music performances, and built-in Wi-Fi enables artists to control their camera via the GoPro App running on their mobile device or using GoPro's Wi-Fi Remote (sold separately). The HERO3+ Black Edition/Music was also engineered to last as long as the jam, recording up to 2 hours of video footage at 1080p at 30 frames per second. The camera also records impressive audio with a built-in microphone and features an external mic input and a 3.5mm mic adapter, allowing for the use of external microphones.
