UltraViolet and MPEG-DASH Technology to be Showcased by castLabs

LAS VEGAS, April 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

castLabs [http://www.castlabs.com ], a leading digital video technology and services
company, is showcasing state-of-the-art DASH [http://dashif.org ] and UltraViolet
[http://www.castlabs.com/solutions/ultraviolet ] video playback technology at NAB
[http://www.nabshow.com ] 2014. With their applications and services they offer a complete
end-to-end solution for creating and delivering secure DASH streams to multiple platforms.
castLabs also continues to pioneer the UltraViolet standard by supporting new features in
their mobile player.

castLabs has announced the availability of the first UVPlayer supporting the Digital
Entertainment Content Ecosystem's (DECE) latest UltraViolet 1.1 specification. It
demonstrates the new 'late binding' feature allowing additional video, audio, and subtitle
content to be dynamically added to downloaded media. The update is built into their
existing Android player which uses the Common File Format (CFF) standard for downloads,
and supports 1080p HD playback with CMLA-OMA DRM for content security.

As an emerging Internet standard, DASH streaming provides an uninterrupted viewing
experience by accommodating for variations in network bandwidth. Working with this
standard, castLabs utilizes their multi-DRM cloud-based service, DRMtoday
[http://www.castlabs.com/products/drmtoday ], to playback protected streams. They have
developed DASH players for Chromecast, HTML5, Android, iOS, Silverlight, and Flash
platforms covering DRM support for Google Widevine, CMLA-OMA, Microsoft PlayReady, and
Adobe Access. To further support the DASH community, castLabs has announced the release of
two open-source applications: dash.encrypt [http://www.castlabs.com/products/dash-encrypt
], a Java based tool for creating and encrypting DASH content, as well as dash.as
[http://www.castlabs.com/products/dashas ], an ActionScript based player.

castLabs will be exhibiting at the NAB Show [http://www.nabshow.com ] in Las Vegas
from April 7-10. You are invited to view their technology in action at booth SU621D1 in
