duet(TM) by PROTAG Bluetooth Tracker Expanding Its Distribution Base Into the United States with Longer Battery Life and an Army of Users
SINGAPORE and WILMINGTON, Del., March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- duet(TM) by PROTAG made its debut last year and is currently retailing in 20 countries worldwide in major electronics retail stores. It is the first few tracker brands in the market and it has more than 100,000 customers in its database to date focusing on the Asian and European markets. Being one of the most established Bluetooth® tracker brands, it is currently in talks with several telecommunication brands, banks and corporate firms to make PROTAG products available worldwide, especially the United States, to aid the crowd GPS network of item tracking. By 2016, the company estimates that penetration rates in major cities will be 5%, which means that 1 out of every 20 users will be able to help track a lost item as they walk past it. duet(TM) by PROTAG is partnering with major third-party logistics (3PL) firms to ensure adequate distribution in the United States and Europe. How does duet(TM) work?
duet(TM) can be attached to keys, pets, laptops or wallets and synchronizes seamlessly with mobile phones via Bluetooth® Low Energy. When the phone or the duet(TM) detects that one or the other is missing, it will alert the user with an alarm on the phone and duet(TM). When the item is reported as missing, the tracking is extended to the PROTAG network of users, helping the user to get back the item effectively.
Why is duet(TM) preferred?
As compared to other Bluetooth® trackers in the market, the company boasts a robust connectivity with the mobile phone, making the technology "useful" in the first place. The company's CEO, Rick Tan, said during the IFA Press Event last year, "Reliability is the key for tracking as it will be useless if there are too many false alerts due to poor connectivity in the first place. It is like a boy crying wolf; after that you will just find it a hassle to be using it." The duet(TM) is designed to be compatible with all of the major Android(TM) brands and Apple devices. Recently, the duet(TM) was featured in Yahoo US by journalist David Pogue who compared the duet(TM) with other trackers.
Since December 2014 duet(TM) has made five major improvements to its devices that are sold in the market. These include matte casing design and premium finishing, improved battery fit, improved battery life, antenna range and connectivity, better quality attachments and packaging design.
duet(TM) users are given a free lifetime membership account to PROTAG Trace System to track their mobile phones and PROTAG devices. It is like the find my iPhone®, Android(TM) device manager and device tracking all combined into one system. Trace allows tracking, locking and ringing of the phone. It also has the option of triggering the front camera to capture a thief's photo. The company also has plans to include other Bluetooth® devices to be tracked in its future updates. The duet(TM) is also one of the only trackers that will alert its user when the smartphone has been left behind. "Most Bluetooth® trackers only work one way by notifying you through your smartphone when you leave your valuables behind. However, they do not alert you when your smartphone is left behind instead.
