Linksys Networking Infrastructure Powers PAX West BYOC And Tournament Game Play
More Than 750 Active Gaming Connections Made Possible by High Performance Linksys Switches
PLAYA VISTA, Calif., Sept. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Linksys®, a global leader in networking solutions for the home and office today announced it is the networking infrastructure hardware of choice for the PAX West video game festival and expo being held this weekend (Sept 2-5) in Seattle, Washington.
PAX West is a convention dedicated to all things gaming. Workshops, roundtables and panels will be held to discuss games, technology and opinions on the gaming industry. There will be concerts, exhibits and play areas for hand held games and table top games. Also, during the course of the four days, a Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) LAN will be in place for participants to plug into and play games and mods. The gamers will use switches from Linksys as their link to the network operations center (NOC), which will host hundreds of simultaneous games.
More than 50 Linksys 26-port Gigabit Smart Switches (LGS326) will allow PAX West's attendees to play their favorite game titles against one another. Using the Linksys equipment and over 3 miles of Cat-5 cable, more than 750 active simultaneous gaming connections can be made. Despite the size of the network, the Linksys equipment's ease of use enable it to be assembled in less than 24 hours.
