Ireland's Allergy Standards Limited Adds LG Electronics to Host of Companies Making Allergy-Certified Consumer Products
LG's LuV300 Vacuum, SteamWasher(TM) and Dehumidifier Among Leading Allergy-Certified Products
WASHINGTON and DUBLIN, March 16 -- Allergy Standards Ltd. (ASL), an Ireland-based, physician-led global certification company, today announced that global technology leader LG Electronics has received ASL's Certification Mark on its new LuV300 vacuum with Kompressor® technology. ASL prepares independent global standards for testing a wide range of products from worldwide manufacturers to determine their suitability for asthmatics and individuals with associated allergies. LG's LuV300 vacuum successfully passed ASL's rigorous certification protocols.
The news was announced at a reception in Washington, DC, hosted by Enterprise Ireland, the Irish state agency responsible for the development and promotion of the indigenous Irish business sector. The event was one of several associated with a Trade and Investment Mission to the U.S. led by Ireland's Prime Minister, Brian Cowen.
With its new line of high-performance vacuum cleaners, LG builds upon the innovative allergen-reducing technology of the Allergiene(TM) feature in LG's SteamWasher(TM), the world's first clothes washer to earn ASL certification, and its new dehumidifiers, which are the world's ASL-certified models.

The LuV300's patented Kompressor vacuum technology utilizes the world's first motorized compression system and a larger bin to compress the dust intake and allows for the clean and simple disposal of compacted dust. This feature is beneficial to consumers seeking to reduce their exposure to dirt and allergens released into the air when emptying the dustbin, helping to assure that allergen exposure at home remains minimal after vacuuming.
LG's data shows that the new vacuum's powerful engine provides superior suction power, removing up to 99 percent of dust on floor surfaces, while the HEPA filter captures 99.97 percent of allergens such as dust mites and pet dander.
ASL pioneered the "asthma & allergy friendly(TM)" certification program in partnership with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the Asthma Society of Canada. Companies certified by ASL bear the organization's Certification mark registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, proving that their products have undergone rigorous testing to determine their relative suitability for people with asthma.
In addition to the Luv300 vacuum, LG's SteamWashers with the exclusive Allergiene(TM) cycle also have received ASL's Certification Mark for removing 95 percent of common allergens such as dust mites and pet dander, from even the most delicate fabrics.
