AT&T Enhances Its Digital Media Solutions Portfolio With New Features That Expand Content Management and Delivery Capabilities
AT&T Will Offer Video Creation and Publishing Services from iStreamPlanet
DALLAS, April 13 -- AT&T* today announced enhancements to AT&T Digital Media Solutions(SM), its suite of content management and delivery capabilities, with new features that include the ability to dynamically adapt video delivery for a better viewing experience. The enhancements expand the capabilities of the AT&T Digital Media Solutions portfolio to help companies package, deliver and distribute video and rich multimedia Web content across their communications networks.
In addition, AT&T announced an agreement with iStreamPlanet to expand the range services supporting video creation and publishing. AT&T will offer iStreamPlanet's Director, Presenter and Managed Live Broadcasting and Professional Services including content acquisition, encoding into all media formats, inclusive of the latest adaptive streaming formats, design and development of rich media experiences, and project management.
With the consumption of rich multimedia content and video on the Web growing exponentially, businesses require resources to deliver compelling content to end users, while managing their IT investments to drive additional revenue and productivity. Now, AT&T Digital Media Solutions supports Adobe® Flash® Media Interactive Server 3.5, allowing customers to take advantage of adaptive bit rate streaming technology, which dynamically adjusts video delivery for an optimized viewing experience for the end user.
"Whether it's at work or at home, people are consuming increasing amounts of rich Internet-delivered content. And it's not just sports, news or amateur video. Corporations are increasingly making rich digital media content central to their businesses to enhance communications," said Sam Farraj, assistant vice president of product marketing for AT&T. "We're continuing to invest in and expand our digital media management capabilities to benefit our customers and simplify their ability to monetize, manage and deliver their content in a highly-secure effective and efficient manner," he said.
AT&T is finalizing a content download manager that is designed to cater to the rapidly increasing demand for controlled electronic software delivery. This feature is designed to accelerate the download process and give customers distributing large files the ability to allow their users to pause and restart the process, reducing abandonment rates which may result from dropped connections or system crashes. The download manager will ensure that files are delivered with complete integrity and includes a reporting function to provide detail such as the number of downloads, success rates and completion verification.
Because of the reach and depth of its global network, AT&T is uniquely positioned to deliver and manage content better- with the security that companies want in today's virtual environments.
In addition to the services announced today, AT&T's Digital Media Solutions portfolio offers a host of content management and distribution, broadcast video and digital signage services and solutions. Individual services can be combined with a broad range of services designed to address rich media distribution needs for mid- to large enterprise customers.
AT&T has the most eyeballs of any U.S. content delivery provider and as of December 31, 2009, AT&T had:
-- more than 17.3 million high speed Internet subscribers.
-- 85+ million wireless subscribers
-- owns and operates the nation's largest Wi-Fi network, and offers
access to more than 125,000 Wi-Fi hot spots in 79 countries (through
roaming agreements.)
-- 2+ million U-verse subscribers
AT&T's routing and access infrastructure within its global Internet Protocol network today reaches countries representing 99 percent of the world economy. As a result, AT&T can deliver content quickly and reliably to companies, while monitoring details such as performance, congestion and other activities to the destination end-users.
What's more, AT&T's network also has security built in to every layer from network transport through end-user application and is supported by 1,500-plus security experts and support professionals. Because AT&T's content delivery services are built into its network fabric, security is implemented at every layer, enabling AT&T to predicatively and proactively detect and repel malicious activity.
