Gems? NO, Pips!

That's right! We're bringing back a graphical representation of the points/reputation system. Instead of gems, we'll probably do some type of pips (think Star Trek naval ranks). Unlike the gems, each imageset will have its own set of pips.

This will be phased in pretty soon since it is easy to do. I'm also working on the rating system that will make the pips carry a bit more sense since it will be like a rank (IE: Reputation).

They are working on the internal test box at home. Only New R3D's imageset has the pip images right now. I'll probably just use them for all themes for the time being and maybe someone will make new ones. Maybe I'll make a blue set and be done for now.

There are 3 pip levels and it is based on the points you have. The scale goes way out so even I won't have the 5 level 3 pips for a long time. It is also configurable on the backend to show or hide pips and to make new levels or change the breakdown of each.

I'll probably upload the changes to the profile pages, initially. Once I gauge the member experience (give me feedback), they'll move to the forums.

They now show on the ASE Forums' thread pages.

I don't think I like the images that much. Someone is welcome to make new pip images. I think I'll use the older gems for the Blue Light Special theme.

The points system is morphing into the reputation system. The gems (from Version 3) will only show for the Blue Light Special theme. The other styles will have their own reputation images.

I'll push the update to all the sites tomorrow.
