Software RAID 1 Mirror with Ubuntu Sun Mar 6, 2011 7:35:57 PM#149859Perm Link
I think I'm up to speed and will be able to do this come May but I wanted to run this concept by those who know more than I do. I will be using the Alternate Install AMD64 distro of Ubuntu with 2 1 TB WD blacks. All the how-To's and tutorials I have found show the steps for creating a boot sector on each of the drives but they also mention just before that that it is not required in RAID 1. So I am "thinking" that because RAID 1 is a mirror then both drives 'should' be installed with GRUB and the installer will load them both at the same time.
Now you can tell me if I'm learning or missing something and I will thank you.

Ok that makes sense. However someone has suggested that I also install LVM. I have been researching that thus the delay in this reply. It appears that LVM is a good thing but if I am not going to have more that one logical partition besides the boot then is there really a need to install that?
