Over the next few weeks I'll be planning a rather large update to the way news and articles (perhaps even topics and messages) are handled categorically.
Instead of assigning a singular category by myself, I'll be assigning tags to them. This will allow other members to also assign tags and then the articles can be searched by the meta information as well as the fulltext.
Tagging will replace everything that currently has a category attachment.
I just need to work out the logistics of it all (backend functions).
2014 is going to be a good year. More content, more streamlining. Be a part of history!
So, everyone will be able to tag articles and such? Wouldn't this be a bad idea? What if I tagged the DRM article as "shittyarticle" and that shows up?
I will be allowing people to tag stuff but the site will only display the assigned tags from the poster. There will be a view all tags link that will show everything. I have done the news tagging. There is no user input for those tags yet, it is coming.

The tagging system for news has entered beta. You are now able to add your own tags to news entries and they will show to you only.
I have good plans for the tagging system when it is all said and done. Next up is article. I hope people will actually start tagging stuff on the site.
