Reworking Rating System

I'm going to be reworking the rating system to make it better. Any opinions on the matter...?

(That means I don't know what to do)

You need something to promote its use. I don't use it much, but maybe if some threads were spotlighted if they are rated high.

Yeah, add a thread rating in addition to the user rating.

Wasn't there a thread rating originally? Or was it a user rating? I know something was disabled, or hidden, from the original ratings system.

It was a user rating. Back in Version 1, you could rate threads.

Ohh, the rating system still works the same... you just can't see what members are rated like before.

There used to be an image below your avatar that gave you your rating level. I just removed that. It was redundant since it is in your profile.

Good for you.

I think the spotlight would be a good idea. It would give more of a point to rating, thus encouraging it more.

I agree. I'll be putting this in place this weekend.

Any other suggestions?

I was also thinking about removing the arbitrary + or - 10 rating on individual messages and just keeping it so there are unlimited amounts of ratings.

If something is really good, it should be known, likewise if it is bad.

This won't change that there will be a limited amount of ratings you can give per day. I really need to look at the system over again.

Work that into the latest threads thing. Like have another area saying "Best Rated" and list the highest rated threads and posts.

Yeah, I was in this old forum (which is now being recreated) called http://www.ghettogamer.com, and they had a locked forum of old threads that were really great for whatever reason.

make it in a way so that you can know what threads hot, not, whats new in it, if its dull etc... i'd hate to say it but... do something like tribal wars thread system =(
