It's about two cops who also make excellent detectives. And there will be one big main case, as well as smaller ones. But it also focuses on Kalena's and Ryker's lives outside of their job. Read and then you'll see
Here are the characters. You will learn more about them throughout the story!
Kalena hated traffic. What more than traffic, she hated when it came to a complete stand still. She was on her way back to the office; she was worn out from today’s case. Not physically, but mentally. Two thugs deciding they could easily get in and get out of an old woman’s house, while carrying a 72” flat screen television. Kalena despised idiots with a passion.
As she sits there, a couple of men near her. One of them held a bag filled with money, the other a cloth. The one who must be the leader taps on her closed window. Kalena looks at them, but they couldn’t tell because of her sunglasses. But she rolls down the window.
“There is no way a pretty thing like you could be with the police. What is a little girl like you doing with a car like this?” He asks, smug and full of false humor.
He leans forward, now inches away from her face. “Hey. I’m talking to you. Come on chika. How about you let us wash this pretty little thing and maybe get you a little wet in the process too, eh?”
Kalena grabs his ear and twists, hard enough to crack the cartilage, and slammed his head against the door of her car. His howl sounded less like that of a wolf than that of an infant. She lets go of his ear and opens the door with enough force to knock him off his feet. As he sprawled backward, rapping his head on the pavement with enough force to summon constellations to an inner planetarium, Kalena had stepped out of the vehicle and planted one foot on his crotch, grinding down just enough to make him squirm and to pin him in place for fear that she’d make paste of his jewels.
To the nearest of the man’s friends, Kalena says, “Hey, shithead, you better get away from here before you get a hole in your precious gems.”
The guy under Kalena’s foot tried to crab-walk away, but she stepped down harder. Tears sprang to his eyes, and he chose submission over the prospect of three days with an ice pack between his legs. In spite of her warning, two out of the other four edge towards Kalena.
“I’m seriously not in the mood for this.” Kalena grumbles under her breath. She sees that the cars had started moving again, ignoring the scene. In one fluid movement, Kalena had pulled out her gun, cocked it, and aimed it at the guy she had trapped. The others instantly back of as Kalena slides into her car, and takes off.

This is the daily life of Kalena Amador, a police officer. She and her partner – who has been with her for four years, Ryker Keating, are constantly on the watch for suspicious activity. Not only are they busy throughout their day dealing with drug busts and robberies, but also going to murders and other mysteries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kalena returns to their 'HQ'. Most people within the city called them The Force, and it stuck. So, instead of being known as their true name, they even started to call themselves The Force.
She parks the car in the underground garage, where all of the vehicles were, and then sits for a moment before exiting. With a dragged out sigh, Kalena trudges her way to the main building to give Meldinda, who everyone called 'The Keeper', her report for today's job.
Kalena gets several waves and 'good-days' as she walks past the other officers, but ignores them. She wasn't in the mood. Not at all.
Kalena growls under her breath when she spots Ryker.
As she makes her way towards him, she grumbles, "We're going to be known as the police department that slacks off."
Kalena stands in front of his desk, placing her hands against the desk top and looking down at him with a glare. Kalena then says in a scolding tone, "Officer Keating. I would appreciate it if you were to wake up. If you want to sleep, then leave the building and go home."
Ryker looks up in a sleepy daze..."And officer Amador.. i would appreciate it if you wore a more fitting shirt and not one that exposes your large breasts... if you want to show off your boobs then leave the building and head to the nearest strip club... i suggest magic city you will get alot of good tips there" he says laying his head back down
Kalena walks around the desk and grabs the back of his chair. She pulls, knocking the chair onto its back and taking Ryker with it.
"Ryker. I'm being serious. If the chief were to walk in here and see you sleeping, you'd be wearing your ass as a hat." Kalena tells him as she walks out of his office and to Melinda. Melinda was a petite lady, in her early 50s but still a lively woman.
"So how was it?" Melinda asks Kalena with a tight smile. Kalena hands the papers to Melinda, and then pinches the bridge of her nose.
"They were worse than I thought. Trying to run away while carrying a massive television. I'm exhausted. I think I'm going to take the rest of the day off." Kalena tells Melinda with a sigh.
"It has been a long day." Melinda nods in agreement. With a short laugh, Kalena heads to her own office and sits down in the leather chair. She sinks back, and could feel her eyelids already start to droop. She couldn't blame Ryker for falling asleep. They had both been thrown dozens of cases within hours. After one, they'd get sent back to another. Today was one of the first days that Kalena had gone on a solo mission. It didn't require two people, definitely not.
"I still can't believe those idiots." Kalena groans, slapping her forehead.
Ryker got up off the floor.."im tired... Hey Watson.. the chief comes in tell em that im taking a personal day and will be on call" he says grabbing his jacket and leaving the station. He gets into his chevy truck and drives off as in 36 minutes he makes it to his block and goes into his apartment pass his living room with Sci-Fi memorabilia and straight to his bed and he undresses and just lays down doesn't even get under the covers
Kalena looks up to see Melinda standing in the doorway of her office.
"Kalena, chief has another job for you. A little boy was hit by a car." But Melinda didn't have to finish. Kalena had already risen to her feet and straightened herself out.
"I know. I know. I have to go see the body. Look at the scene. And then tell the parents." Kalena says. Melinda gives a single nod. "Could you tell chief that I'm heading home after I get done with the parents? Thanks."
Kalena goes back to the underground garagage. This day just got a whole lot worse for Kalena. She absolutely hated dealing with these cases. The parents were the worst part of it. And Kalena had it written in her calendar that there is supposed to be a meeting on car accidents tomorrow. Those always made her sick.
-Two Hours Later-
Kalena had finished. She couldn't cry. She never could. It wasn't in her to. But the parents had been destroyed, as were the three siblings. The boy was ten years old, and by what she had heard from the family he was also a great kid. Everyone's friend. It always seemed to be those kinds of kids who were killed.
She decides to stop by Ryker's apartment, and makes her way up the stairs. Her muscles were screaming at her to stop moving already. Kalena manages to make it to Ryker's room, and she unlocks the door.
"Ryker!" Kalena calls out. When she doesn't receive an answer, she just invites herself in and searches for him. When she finds Ryker, she exhales.
"Seriously." Kalena shakes her head. "Ryker Keating. Why the hell aren't you wearing any clothes?"
Ryker gets up.."im in my apartment.. my bedroom.. i think i don't have to wear clothes if i choose not to" he says
"now whats going on" he asks cracking his neck
Kalena goes into the living room and looks at all of science fiction objects and pictures he had. A smile forms on her face, but only for a second.
She sits on the couch as she answers Ryker, "A ten year old boy named Grayson Thall was hit by a car today. He died ten minutes after impact. Suffered severe internal damage. It's tragic how it happens to the best of us...sorry...I just needed to talk to someone and you're the only one who listens."
He puts on a shirt and pants..."Look we have been here before.. we are not psychics we can't prevent every tragedy we enforce the law, punish the guilty.. you can't let every death whether it be a man woman or child eat you up or else you won't be a good cop" he says getting her a drink
"Its a tragedy but.. nothing can be done" he says
"12th actually but who's counting.." he says getting up.. "Now is there any other therapy i can give you, or advice, i am a qualified psychiatrist" he joked
"My diagnosis is that your boyfriends erectile issues are due to you working to much and refusal to talk dirty" he says
Kalena takes a sip of her drink before laughing in a sarcastic way. "You're hilarious. No, I'm good. Thanks. Plus, I don't have a boyfriend. I think it was after meeting you that I decided, from then on, that you men are the most work out of anything else in this world."
"Oh a life of celibacy.. that sucks.. really your missing out.. you can always become a lesbian" he says sitting back down.. "Your a cop you need to relieve stress...hell if it wasn't for miranda that lives on the 2nd floor then i would have killed myself by now" he says
"I relieve my stress by doing OTHER things than that. For example, I go jogging. I watch sports on television. I go hang out with friends. Yeah, believe it or not I have friends." Kalena says with a smile. She then looks at Ryker and frowns. So he has other women. Not only that but he's done things with them. Kalena gets to her feet and hands Ryker the rest of her drink.
"Well you and Miranda must have a blast. And I would love to hear more, but I should get going." Kalena forces another smile as she exits the apartment and quickly drives off, ignoring the speed limit. Kalena's day: Up. Down. Down down downdowndowndown. Up. DOWN. She was going to bed as soon as she got home.
"Hmm i wonder what wrong with her" he thinks as he hears a knock on the door
"Really kalena your gonna leave then come right back" he says as he opens the door and its miranda wearing a tanktop exposing her large bust and her gloves
(Miranda) "Ready for another boxing lesson" she says
"Yea let me get my stuff..whoo i got alot of stress miranda.. if it wasn't for you i probably would have killed myself" he says..."I was just telling my partner" he says walking out the door with her.
"Yea i hope you let it be known i just train you.. i mean from the pictures your partners hott i wouldn't mind making her play for my team" she says
(Ryker) "Haha good luck with that" he says laughing
(Miranda) "I could get her to switch teams..." she says sticking her tongue out at him.."Just for that you don't get to watch" she says
Ryker frowns.."aww come on..." he whinned
Kalena slaps the sides of her face as she gets into her house, and then takes a deep breath.
"Alright, tomorrow is going to be an even longer day. Especially with that meeting." She says to herself, starting to give herself a pep talk. "You can get through it Kalena Amador. You can."
She walks into her room and changes into an old athletic shirt. Kalena looks over at the photograph of her mother and younger brother. A sad smile forms on Kalena's face as she slides a finger over it. "I'm not going to let you guys down. I will never let you down. I will never give up."
Then, Kalena jumps into bed and instantly falls asleep.
Miranda is beating Ryker due to him being a cop he was use to just brawling if he had to take down a criminal.. but last year he decided to take boxing lessons so he doesn't get so beaten up anymore.
Miranda throws a right and Ryker dodges but its a large movement and Miranda hits him with a left.."I told you dodge with the minimum amount of space so you can counter before your opponent can react... or you won't be able to lay a finger on me" she says
Ryker pushes in close..."Oh really" he says swinging and miranda blocks to brace herself and he pinches her shoulder.."Vulcan death grip" he says joking.. and miranda then pummels him...."This isn't a joke ryker" she says as they continue his lesson until 8 pm.
(I just pictured him doing the Falcon Punch XD Just tell me when and I'm going to go to the next day)
Kalena was having a nightmare. No. It was a memory. The crash was replaying over and over and over again. But every single time, Kalena would be watching from a different angle. It was horrible. The sights. The sounds. Even the smell. Every time she tried to look away, a pair of invisible hands would grab her head and force her attention back to the scene.
Ryker goes back to his apartment nursing a black eye miranda goes with him.."Im sorry you took it as a joke so i went kind of hard on you" she says as she lays him down... and he goes to sleep.
"Oh god.. when is he suppose to wake up for work...hmm i'll just stay here.. maybe his partner will call and i'll wake him up" she thought.
(Next Day)
Miranda is sleeping on the couch with rykers phone
Kalena was already at the office, and the chief was getting ready for the presentation in the meeting room. Kalena had been waiting for Ryker to show up for the past half an hour. It wasn't like him to be late.
She pulls out her cell phone and calls Ryker.
"Hello" miranda sleepily answers the phone..."Oh is this the station... Ryker must have work..Sorry im miranda.. and he was really tired from last night and i'll wake him up" she says running to his room
"Tired from last night. Miranda..." Kalena nearly chokes on the words. She struggles a thank you before hanging up. Kalena walks into the meeting room and takes her seat. She had a spot reserved for Ryker, but decides to let someone else sit there. The chief, Darwin, pulls down the screen for the projector, and then hooks his labtop up to it.
"Is Officer Keating here yet?" Chief asks Kalena.
"No. He should be here shortly. He had...a bit of a night." Kalena answers.
Miranda wakes ryker he hurries and puts on his clothes which are wrinkled and heads to the station barging into the room..."sorry I'm late chief ...overslept " he says taking a seat
Kalena doesn't even so much as acknowledge Ryker, and keeps her eyes glued on the screen as chief starts the powerpoint.
"There have been multiple deaths recently that involved vehicles." Chief Darwin begins, his voice bellowing. He was a tall, burly man. The chocolate brown mustache is a sign of what color hair should have been resting on his head. Chief was always saying that he didn't go bald until he joined the force.
The lights flicker to life as the powerpoint ends. There had been numerous graphic images. Some of them...Kalena recognized all too well. Someone started to put out snacks and drinks for everyone. Kalena gets up from her seat, and hears several of the guys talking about some accidents that had happened in the past. She decides to move a bit closer to try and hear what they were saying better.
The men started to laugh. "I heard the mother had been drinking and driving. But she died so they couldn't charge anything."
"Really? I've heard multiple stories on the mom doing it on purpose to kill the kids. The girl was a complete bitch to the paramedics." Another snorts.
Kalena's eyes widen and she tenses. She knew they were talking about the accident. Kalena was about to tell the chief that she had to go, but didn't want anyone to notice. Swiftly, Kalena pushes her way through everyone and out to her car. Usually, she would go to Ryker's place. But she found herself speeding home. Kalena wasn't sure if she was angry or disappointed with the other officers. Kalena did know that she was upset with herself.
