I thought this was interesting. I was curious as to what everyone else's thoughts were on having prisoners build things to sell in order to raise money. What do you think about them getting paid? What really hit me was that those who participate in the program, the recidivism rate is far less.

I do not mind them making things to get paid, they might as well do something when they are locked up. Plus they probably are learning something new.

I agree. That's what I'm attributing the low recidivism rate to. They learn skills to get normal jobs when they get out. For that type of work, hands on training is the best way to go.

Getting paid to do something is fine. Keep their minds busy doing something instead of just wasting away. I don't think they should get paid alot, though.
