This is no balanced situation - the state is forcing him to put all he has into not being sqashed on the spot. Technically, Reiser remains an innocent man until he is proven guilty. If he is not proven guilty, he will be a wreck of a man who was destroyed by an unjust system on the off-chance that he might have commited murder.
