I just got the "halfies on another baby" line (with some other choice statements) while taking my boys on a walk this afternoon. I hate those kind of comments! Are they supposed to be flattering or just show some sort of dominance by making a woman uncomfortable? The worst is when they are said, like this afternoon, in hearing range of my oldest. He doesn't need to see his mom sexualized, and I shouldn't need to explain what they are talking about.
The weird thing is that on especially hot days, I run in just a sports bra and running shorts and I never get these remarks, but let me put on jeans and a tee and push the stroller -- apparently I'm free game to be propositioned at every stop light.
Maybe I don't look so intimidating with my muscles covered.
Perhaps you're at the heart of another new trend? Instead of finding it hard to date after Mom-hood, you get guys who demand the experienced mom! Or, maybe you live in a sleezy neighbourhood, or maybe all the guys there are too intimidated after hearing "Just because I'm dressed this way does not mean I'm a..." (the last part changes). My general experience is that objectification is the constant state of adults, either practicing or being practiced upon.
Dressed up and with kids? You must be a might cute'n. I'll have to watch for moms at the next Dr. Who convention.
