Whats your "martial arts" poison? Sun Nov 18, 2007 3:54:23 PM#44479Perm Link
MINE IS CAPOEIRA!
coolest martial art- I wanted to start back up again NOW but my knee is dislocated, or just plained effed.
I do recommend to everyone to join-up. I did Capoeira Senzala for a short while. In TWO WEEKS it whipped my soft squishy behind into a firmness I could never remember....lol!
Very well rounded sport- honestly! I think what piqued my interest was Christie Monteiro in Tekken...don't ask.
My father is a Master in Karate (particular type but doesn't ring a bell at this moment but once I remember i'll note) he's been doing it since the 70's. And he's Olllldddd...
Anyone else here do martial arts or wanted to try?
Ohhh Aron you must!
I'm biased to Capoeira....but I do know plenty of people that do Kung Fu, Tang So Doo, you name it....but if you do a little bit of research one will grab you, definitely.
I absolutely don't have time either...lol...I work 50+ hours at my job.
But, I did visit a few classes and I then bought books and did research online to help build off of the building blocks.
Believe- if you have time to work out for 20-30 minutes you can definitely become proficient in a martial art easily.
Damn...its funny I cant even recollect what I was taught by my ....uhh...I guess Kung Fu teacher...I DO remember my damn nickname in that class though...."THE STICK" cause i was stiff as hell hahaha!!!
Haggard: Ahhh Brazilian Jujitsu, if i'm not mistaken? VERY COOL! There are some interesting parallels between Capoeira and Brazilian Jujitsu. lol you're too cool....seriously.
Konojo: lol I can still remember the Ginga (of course), the Meia Lua, the Au, The Esquiva, The Quixada, Cocorinha- I do remember a few of the beginning movements. I want to start up again so bad! lol...its okay "the stick" my teacher would always tell me that I didn't bend low enough. Unfortunately- Capoeira has no feelings for short people with big thighs...lol
