Well, we already had a big talk about religion, so now for another big topic. =3
Recently gay marriage was made legal in California. What do you peoples think of that? I know there are a lot of homophobes out there who think it's "disgusting" and "an outrage" and what not and it kinda pisses me off. =P Personally, I think that if two people love eachother they should be able to be together no matter what sex they are. Any opinions?
Only problem with the "they love each other" argument, is that it expands. What if a mother and son wanted to get married? They love each other, right? Or father and daughter? Of course that is incest, but what about animals? There is a whole slue of things that could be brought up.
My major problem with it is that a gay couple can already get the same rights right now through a civil union recognized by the government, same benefits, everything. It's just not called a marriage, which I believe should be between a man and a woman. I have no problem with what they do with their personal lives, but when they begin to redefine certain terms that a lot of people hold sacred. That, I kinda got a problem with.
My major problem with "sacred argument" is that everyone applies for the same marriage license. This license is recognized federally regardless of religion. For Christians having such a strong hold on marriage, shouldn't there be more outrage that members of other religions are "married"?
The argument is stupid. If Christians want to keep marriage sacred then I think there should be a middle ground. Legally everyone should get civil unions. When talking about an institution like marriage that is consummated in a church, I believe the church should be left to decide whether they support same sex marriage. Everyone should get the same rights and religion should not be a part of this.
It doesn't bother me to be honest. I don't have a problems with two guys or girls getting married. I mean, why should we care, its not like its hurting anybody. So what if two guys want to get married. It's just sad that people actually complain and whine about it. And if the people who are complaining and whining just happened to be gay, I bet the bank they would feel the other way.
I don't think it is right to condone something that most probably condemn. Regardless of if it is "not hurting anybody"
That to me is like saying, it's OK to jump off a bridge and kill yourself...as long as you're not hurting anybody. Or it's OK to sit in a red room surrounded by stuffed animals drenched in K-Y jelly with nothing but your birthday suit on with a dildo in one hand and a bag of Cheetos in the other hand watching re-runs of Andy Griffith, while you spoon to old records of the Beetles...as long as your not hurting anybody...
Erm, who says I'm embarassed? It's a big deal in America right now and I just wanted to know people's personal opinions. The only reason I havn't replied until now was because I havn't been online. =P
Also, I'm a Christian and I still think it's okay. I think if God had a problem with it, he'd probably just kill off all the Gay people or just stop them all from being born. =P
I disagree , the gay should not be aloud to get married , because the only reason people get married is mostly for religion on not having sex not married and gays can't have sex or cant they !?!?!?!
MEANIESSS!
Gay people are soo nice and all you do is criticize them!
Criticizing doesn't say anything about the other person! It only says something about your need to always judge people!
