Music Education/Composition Tue Jul 27, 2004 9:42:38 PM#9379Perm Link
In a world filled with an incomprehensable number of bands, musicians, singers, songwriters, and "music critics" I was wondering if it may be possible that any of you here have any music education. I myself have been studying music theory and composition through private instruction for the last 3 years now. Do any of you share my passion for knowing the inner workings of music? If so I hope that we could have a discussion about composing and about what music today is. We could possibly even trade peices and analyze each others works. Also if you haven't had any formal training but want to learn, you should join in... assuming that others join too. I dont want this to turn into a class or anything. Also, if you compose on your computer, what programs do you use?

P.S. I write, and I like what i write, maybe other people will too.
When I was 8 I first picked up the guitar and fell in love...I had 2 years of practice and dropped it bc of a problem at home...a year layter I picked up percussion and played for 5 years. My schools changed and I had a music director who mentally abused me, I quit after a couple months of putting up with his shit. I played at home for 6 more months and then gave up. Artistically I was amazing, I won metals and dollar prizes by entering my artwork into shows. Then, a year layter after quitting percussion, I remembered my love for guitar and picked it up again. I've been playing on and off for a year and a half now and am learning a shit load more each day since my bf plays rythm guitar in a band and all. I'm trying to work on something unique and not like the same shit you hear over and over again. Anyways, I'll come back to this...I'm going to a club. Layte.
